John is based in Bangkok and provides government relations and public affairs services for GTH’s clients in Thailand.
A veteran in international law enforcement & diplomacy, he is a retired US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Special Agent who has spent 25 years investigating organized crime, terrorism, cybercrime, white collar & violent crime across borders. For over ten years, John served as the head FBI representative to the governments of Thailand, Myanmar, & Laos, and a key member of the US Embassy staff.
As the head FBI representative in the region, he was responsible for strategic partnerships with the host country, multilateral partners, and other U.S. law enforcement, intelligence, and diplomatic agencies, while coordinating and investigating intelligence collection and enforcement operations.
Presently, as part of the firm’s International Public Affairs team specializing in forensic DNA policy, he has been actively engaging multiple stakeholder groups across Thailand on policies and regulation to establish and expand the use of DNA technologies.
John’s understanding of the political and cultural landscape of the region, an extensive network with international agencies and diplomatic community, and policy exposure to sectors like technology, life sciences, defense, maritime & cybersecurity, make him a strong asset to our clients.
Since his retirement from the bureau, John has worked as a security and law enforcement consultant for numerous multinational companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Union College, New York, and lives with his wife and son in Bangkok.
